Tiki has Returned

Tiki has returned to the rescue. Due to unfortunate circumstances Tiki has been returned to the rescue, and is now being placed into sanctuary. I grew very attached to Tiki in  her 4 months here, she touched my heart in more ways than one.

Tiki's story is very sad, and very tragic.....

Tiki was hand raised by a woman and once her screaming began was moved throughout the house into different locations. When the screaming increased Tiki was then placed into the laundry room. It took multiple baths and a lot of care to get Tiki even remotely healthy again.  Tiki is of course an Umbrella Cockatoo and she lived in a laundry room, in a small cage for many many years, she was also never allowed out of the cage. Tiki began to chew on her feathers and pluck due to lack of interaction, toys, and overall care.
The woman who surrendered Tiki does not wish to ever be updated, contacted, and would like to be left alone, which we have. Tiki will always be welcome here, and although unhandleable, Tiki is the sweetest Cockatoo I have ever met, even through her tragic life.

Welcome Home Tiki

Below are pictures of the first time she was allowed out of a cage in years.

Welcome Home Tiki...for as long as you live , you will have a home here!

You will never live your life again caged.

I promise to never allow anyone to lock you away again, that's what they did to you before.
I swear you can scream here all you like, I may laugh and scream right along with you.
You will be fed properly and loved for as long as you live, or as long as I breathe, which ever comes first!
You will be loved, you will be here, and you will be happy again!
